An Chin (Chia An Chin)
An Chin was born in Taiwan and raised in different parts of Asia. She works with imagination as an perceptive organ. She works in series much similar to a collector. An Chin values the idea of DIY, crafts and skills to a high extent. Her art practice comprises of various mediums including fashion, animation, performance, sculpture and painting. Her work revolves around the unconscious versus the conscious relationship between pataphysics and metaphysics. The results is a play with creation of sensory based conversation, ideals, objects, things and anything. Most of her paintings is a reflection of her views of our technological society as a religion in itself. Her sculptures, animations, performance and fashion garments usually deal with different fanatical ways of projecting themselves to the audience through different ideas, functions, and didactics given to it. A large amount of literal pun is given visually to the audience as metaphors or symbolisms to literature or the mundane and philosophical. She prefers to maintain at a neutral state in most of her work. (Neutral State: There is no right or wrong; it is perceived as real as much as it is unreal or surreal.) She explores micro and macrocosmic universes within all her work. An Chin is a bird-lover, trainer, and loves to eat.
